Day 22 - The Jesus Storybook Bible

The Jesus Storybook Bible - Every store whispers his name, by Sally Lloyd-Jones, is another great book I recommend if you have young children. It's a story bible so it shouldn't take the place of reading the Bible to your children but it is a fabulous book. This is the best one I've seen because it properly tells the children in each story that the entire bible points us to Jesus.

I'll quote a section so you can see what I'm talking about. This quote is from the Genesis account of the flood. After God saved Noah and set up His covenant with him, you find this quote:

"It wasn't long before everything went wrong again but God wasn't surprised, he knew this would happen. That's why, before the beginning of time, he had another plan - a better plan. A plan not to destroy the world, but to rescue it - a plan to one day send his own Son, the Rescuer. God's strong anger against hate and sadness and death would come down once more - but not on his people, or his world. No, God's war bow was not pointing down at his people. It was pointing up, into the heart of Heaven."

The pictures in this book are amazing too. You can take a look at some of them here.

This is a great book. Here's another quote I love from the beginning of the book

"Now, some people think the Bible is a book of rules, telling you what you should and shouldn't do. The Bible certainly does have some rules in it. They show you how life works best. But the Bible isn't mainly about you and what you should be doing. It's about God and what he has done."

I love reading this book!
