John McCain - Super Tuesday - The political system is failing

Doug Wead wrote an interesting blog post today considering the impact of Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign on politics in the nation. I hope he's right in his point that this election year will be the beginning of great change.



I hope many will have their eyes enlightened to see that John McCain is a wolf in sheep's clothing. We often hear people cry out in our country that we must leave the personal lives of people out of the public square. This is wholeheartedly false because how one acts behind closed doors is an excellent picture of their integrity and values.



John McCain divorced his wife and is accused using "his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and "engage in extra-marital affairs." There are too many unanswered questions about John McCain for him to gain my support.



Politics as usual won on this Super Tuesday. I've heard so many people say that we need to elect someone that will be able to beat the democrats. Each time I mention the name Ron Paul to someone, I hear the response, "I'd agree with what he says and would vote for him if I thought he could win." So, it's now more important for a party to win rather than ideologies to be assessed. Consider why you are republican (or democrat). I was "born into" the republican party, and now everyone (media) tells me that if I'm conservative (Christian), I need to make sure those evil democrats do not get into office.



I ask you this one question. Can we really trust John McCain to hold to his vows? He has continually crossed lines over to side with those "evil" democrats, and now he tells me he is the most conservative person running for President....I don't believe him. He's proven he cannot be trusted.



For this reason, I sure hope Doug Wead is correct in his assessment of the Ron Paul revolution. We need a change, but none of the "front-runners" are speaking of change. The next 4 years will continue us on the path we are currently on, and I for one will not be happy (politically speaking that is!).

Politically Correct?

I've been watching CNN and Fox News today and I continually hear statistics about what groups vote for which candidates. It's interesting that all the statistics are all related to race, gender, and religion. Aren't those the three things we are NOT supposed to talk about in our country?

According to these TV channels:
1. Women should support Clinton
2. African Americans should support Obama
3. Mormons should support Romney


I cannot help but wonder who the African American Mormon women should support.

In recent days I've had several conversations with people who are unfamiliar with Ron Paul. Others I've spoken with think he's not electable and they're planning to vote for someone they think can be Romney or McCain or whoever....

For the first time in my life, I'm interested in politics. The message of Ron Paul deserves credit for this. I do not want to lift the man up too high for fear of him overshadowing our Saviour Jesus Christ, but I do enjoy hearing the refreshing political message Paul is broadcasting. I generally do not trust politicians and am not sure if Ron Paul is really different from the others, but at this point he's convinced me to give him a shot unlike Fox News and ABC.

These two channels have not invited Ron Paul to their debates, and I would like to see the other candidates refuse to participate in those debates if they truly believe openness and freedom are good things.

Granted, I do not truly expect anyone of the candidates to refuse an opportunity to squash another candidate due to censorship, but then again, if they did, I may actually give them another look.....on 2nd though...nah.

More on Ron Paul

This article presents an interesting side of the Ron Paul story. I must admit that I do not know everything Ron Paul believes, but it seems quite clear that we need to quit being blinded by the issues.

The Presidential campaigns in our country suffer from the same problems the church is experiencing. We want to teach application diligently because people are not being transformed by the word of God. The problem is that we are not being transformed by the renewing of our minds.

The answer is not to simplify God's word to a list of dos and donts nor is it to simplify the political process to a list of 10-20 issues. People change and my political views probably change slightly every 6-12 months as I gain more knowledge and wisdom. What we need to look for in a President is a man of integrity that will stand strong to his basic worldview or political viewpoint.

Ron Paul believes the government is too big and intrusive and even if I do not agree with him on many issues, I can rest assured that he will do everything in his power to stop the federal government from imposing laws that make my life more difficult. Government is easier on smaller on smaller scale, and Ron Paul is pushing for major shrinkage!

Vote Ron Paul 2008

A couple of months ago Peggy and I saw what looked like a painted bedsheet sign hanging off a local bridge (over highway 31 in Birmingham by the Galleria mall). It said "Vote Ron Paul". At the time we assumed this had something to do with one of the local colleges due to it's unofficial appearance.

Since that time, I have become acquainted with the Ron Paul running for President of the United States in the 2008 presidential election. If you haven't heard much about him, please read up on him at http://www.ronpaul2008.com/. After a little reading through his issues page, I am now a supporter of this man for President.
